Chile

Residence Visa "Subject to Contract"
- granted for a maximum of up to two years
- can be extended for equal periods of time
- employment contract
- work only for the employer who signed the contract which originated your visa
- spouse, parents and children live at the expense of the permit holder
- expires from the moment of termination of employment contract
- you can change your employer and update your visa
- you have 30 days to apply to a new residence visa after the expiration of the current one
- you may request the Definite Permanence if you have stayed two years without interruption with this type of residence
-  you must request a special work permit for a in process residence if you wish to work while your application for a residence is being processed


Temporary Visa for Professionals
- granted for up to one year
- can be extended only for one more year
- job offering (not a contract)
- valid Tourism Card (means you should be present in Chile)
- no special limitations on residing in the country and performing any legal activities
- spouse, parents and children live at the expense of the permit holder 
- you may request the Definite Permanence if you have stayed one year without interruption with this type of residence

It is important that Temporary Visa for Professionals allows the applicant to work only once the visa has been stamped on their passport only, and not before that.
